And we were just slapping ourselves on the backs for not having done anything stupid too.

Planing out, I was slightly amused at the improved view, but it taking longer then normal. We exchange a curious glance at eachother and then are hit in the face with a spray of cold water.

"What the heck*?"

In unison, with big eyes, we scream, "The trolling motor!".

I slam the throttle back, the boat slams down, and the front two mounting bolts rips up out the the top of the boat...with a loud crunching sound.

Looking around, very quickly, to see if any one wittnessed my baffoonery, I was relieved to see not a soul in sight.

Had to strap it back down with a short rope for the remainder of the trip.

Except for that, and her plunging a 4/0 hook into her forearm, a trip to the local ER, we had an enjoyable, and lucky, fishing trip.

Took 6 months but I finally joined the club, Bobberhead.

(* Not the actual word said)

I have left the anchor out many times.........always noticed the drop in boat performance when dragging a 20lb anchor. :D
