Motor guide power issue

I am have issues with my trolling motor guide on my variable speed switch I have to have it at least half way up any lower and it just don't work. I am not good at all with electricity like not at all I am thinking of changing the varable speed switch it is low cost but just wondering if it is the problem or if there is anything else happening really want to get it switched before the fish hit the beds

Dude, Im pretty sure the mods will move this. But anyway, I'd pop the case open, you probably just have a loose or corroded wire. If you need to bust the case open to fix it anyway, may as well do it BEFORE you buy the part so as not to waste your money....
