Re: Motor has no top end....

Ok, Bear. I bought a new connector that snaps on the gas tank. Found out today that the fitting that connects the fuel line from the tank to the motor is one from a mercury that I had on there before. I thought they were interchangeable. I was told they were not. Got one today at walmart for my Meriner. When it gets a little cooler today Im going out to change it out. I hope this fixes things. Because there is nothing else to change?

I'll let you know,

Suzuki40

Re: Motor has no top end....

Everything is brand new from the carbs to the gas tank. and a large list of others. I guess im going to have to take it to the Mechanic tommarow... there goes big bucks.
Motor is starting and running fine, except when I throttle down on it, run about 10 seconds and looses prime in the bulb??? pump it up and it will run great. I can sit there and pump it as im running full throttle and it will do just great for as long as I keep it primed?

Suzuki40

Re: Motor has no top end....

go back and inspect all check valves and the tank
pickup again. what type fuel tank r u using?
have seen lots of NEW defective primer bulbs.
can also try this:
take off cover and push throttle wide open.
as it starts boggiin down, tap on the side of
the fill bowl with but of screwdriver. if this
fixes, got a bad float. (are floats new?)
are check valves in pump new? in right?
from left field:
once had my local shop sell me the wrong gaskets
for the fuel pump. diff. was so small, could hardly
tell they were wrong. caused same exact symptoms.
good luck,
M.Y.

The carbs....do they have the fuel pumps built onto them?

If so...the gasket that you mount them onto the intake with has a small hole in it...and MUST be aligned with the hole on the intake as this is where the pulse is recieved.

TMD

Re: Motor has no top end....

Hey mellowyellow,
I have looked up the part #'s myself to check if the parts I got were right. They are. I have had friends that work on boats all the time come over and check this out. I have replaced the bulb and fuel lines three times. tore the carbs down three times.(with help) 5 well experianced fellas have come over to figure this out. same story every time. Everything related to the fuel delivery is new ( a couple of times). Motor runs like a champ, couldnt asked for it to do better. as long as you pump the bulb.

Suzuki40

Re: Motor has no top end....

Problem Solved!!! WHOOO HOOO!!!
I had a frind come over today that had a vacuum pump. he put it on the fuel line at the tank and pumped air into it or he sucked air out I dont know. When he did the "T" that directs the fuel to each carb had a crack in it. it whistled like a tea kettle. I must have cracked it putting the fuel lines on. anyway I replaced it and took it out for a test run. Smoooooth as silk. Thanks for all the inquieries and keeping my attention on the fuel system. Ya'll are great and very helpful, Bear and Mellowyellow...Thanks a bunch.

This thread is done,Bye

Suzuki40 :D :D :D
