I am in the process of raising my motor a few holes from where it is now. Currently it is on the lowest mounting position (top holes). I want to go 2 holes up, my question here is this. Currently on the position it is in the top of the transom bracket rest on top of the transom. If I go up a few holes the transom bracket will not be resting on the top of the transom but be a few inches above. So at that point the motor will be held to the transom only by the 4 large mounting bolts. Is this ok? Do I need to fill in the space above the transom (2") with a piece of wood? Are the 4 bolts enough to safely hold it in place? Thanks for everyone's help on this.

2" is a pretty good jump, at once.

Watch your cooling.

I agree, the cavitation plate was under water and the motor does not have power T&T. I will check it out tomorrow, thanks for the heads up on cooling.
