Man, you need to get off that 13P idea. You are headed in the wrong direction. Nuf said on this issue.

Mark

You can probably make some improvements by following the advice above but you will not be able to nail the best performance until you can measure max rpms at WOT.

How do you monitor water pressure?? if RPMS are too low why would it be a bad idea to get a 13p prop?

He wasn't sure about the accuracy of his rpm's if I read the post correctly.

I was going by experience with that sized OMC engine on boats that I knew; and on my experience concerning his stated problems, and mine with underpowered boats.

I was thinking that maybe by proping the way I mentioned that he could pull out of his sag, (get beyond it) increase his speed, which would put him above the porposing, and in doing so improve his performance; hence mph and reduced porposing....even though he was going up in pitch.

Mark

If you want better hole shot, drill the prop.

This is proven technology that will help. If you don't like the results, just fill the holes in with epoxy.

Doesn't anyone have a better pic of the OMC tech bulletin than this one?

Very interesting. Might try this on my 90 Etec as it will only rev out to about 4800 max with a 15x15 prop, no where near the maximum 5500 claimed it can do.
I can see the benefits.

Tads

It is my understanding the
anticav plate should be level
with the bottom of the boat.
Yours is WAAAYY to high!
The position it is in now will
promote top speed, not hole shot.
Go fast people raise the engine like
yours is to sqeek all the top speed,
1 inch above is about all it takes.
Lowering the anticav plate below the
boat promotes hole shot, at the cost of top speed.
Lower that sucker, then prop to maximize
your motors ability

Looking at his pic with the level it looks about 2 inches or so too high.

Your trim fins should be level with your hull, so lower your engine to where it is level, you will get better performance and more speed, as I said the fins must be level with the bottom of your hull .... I race boats and this is how it should be ...
