Re: Motor is Mounted

Is that a brand new 'zuki or rebuilt? That looks like a serious power plant mounted on the transom.

Go baby go....

Mark42,

2006 140 4 Stroke, fresh out of the crate (been saving pennies for a while now).

Max HP for the hull is 150, under the wire by 10hp. It does look big though, I had a Johnson 140 (83) on it before the rebuild start.

Hoping to get better performance.

Peace.

Re: Motor is Mounted

Sure is looking sharp. Forgive me if you already know this but here a few quick tips for successful new motor install....

1) be sure the bolts are sealed with a real marine sealant (not bathroom silicone caulk). Use 3m or Boatlife. Now that its mounted you can pull/apply sealant/replace the bolts one at a time if you missed this crital step to prevent water infiltration throught mounting bolts that causes the dreaded transom rot!!!!

2) Did you read the owners manual for break in procedure? Its important!!!!!!

3) Have a ball!

That boat looks too clean.... You did a great restore!

Mark42,

Read owners manual multiple times, have had the motor since Novemeber :) Familiar with break in procedure.

In picture that is not me rigging, marine mechanic, he used 5200 to seal the holes, as you described.

Still have a way to go, drilling holes for helm and instruments today. Will be making a check list.

Thanks for the reminders.

Peace.

Man that motor looks SWEET! You are going to have to put all the gear in the bow to tame that monster! That baby ought to fly! Looking good, keep us posted!

Re: Motor is Mounted

Purduebarry,

Thanks much, I have moved the weight around during the re-build, batteries are forward of the console, tank is 1' farther foward, as are the consoles themselves. No more water weight in transom and stringers. And a few other weight saving issues, we will see what happens.

I hope this next weekend I will be able to get some sea time to balance things out before final rigging.

Peace.
