motor leaking oil

I have a 1985 8hp Johnson. I recently replaced the water pump on it. After test running it and making sure everything works fine, I noticed that my outboard is leaking oil from the exhaust. I am positive it is not gearcase oil because it is not a dark gray color but more like used motor oil. It is not leaking a lot just enough to make a puddle the size of a half dollar over the course of a day or so. It never leaked like that before. I am thinking maybe I ruined bushing or a gasket when putting it back together, and the oil is running down the driveshaft from the engine. Does that sound logical or did I do something else wrong or is this nothing to worry about. Anyones expertise would be of great use to me. Thank you.

Nothing to worry about, Its just unburned fuel mix thats running from exaust leg. Motor mite be running a little rich.

They seem to have this problem most often if you do alot of slow speed operation. Like trolling for them pesky walleyes.

Good luck!
