Thanks to you guys I was able to get my 50hp rude running very well. Went Catfishing the other night. Ran well for hours, shut down for dinner break, upon restart could not exceed 2500rpms. I am not thinking it overheated, (minimum 45 minute break.) I drop back to nuetral, spike the rpms with idle tab untill they passed 3000rpms. then it ran fine till the next break, repeat ad nauseum. Funny how I could get it back to running right by high idle. Any ideas? thanks again

explain a little better how you got it to run again.

ok, When stuck @ 2500rpm, I would shift to nuetral, quickly jog the idle throttle tab up and down a few times, rev to over 3000rpms, and back to running normal?

sounds like there is some crap in the carb or something in the linkage is sticking, and working the fast idle is freeing it. i have no logical explanation.

here's a thought, it's a longshot...look to see if one of the plastic (nylon?) ball joints (bushings) holding the spark advance rod in place is cracked or broken or missing.
