I have come to the conclusion that the only way to be happy wiith my boat is to rebuild completly. I would like to tweak and tune motor with performance part. Any help would be appreciated. I am looking for complete engine parts seals and all. THANK YOU 1975 135HP johnson v4 Model (135esl75e)

Re: Motor Rebuild Performance Style

Describe "performance rebuild", set your goals and parameters. That will establish your limitations.

Start with the hull design. Will it respond to small increases in torque?

you have one of the best is performance stuff, asking you questions, answer him, or he will leave you in the dust. he's here to give you free help. go to his shop and see what it cost you. right now all we know is you have an old motor and an old intruder? what size? is it water logged?

Just be careful that you dont cross the line into being able to upgrade the motor, which I think is usually a safer and easier alternative. Although customizing is fun, it can get expensive the more you dive into it and depending on your mechanic, can sometimes cause more problems than it's worth. Youll have to weigh either your time(or your mechanics) vs budget vs your headaches. Dont want to discourage a rebuild, just something to think about.

Re: Motor Rebuild Performance Style

OK, we'll assume you mean you're using a GW Invader. That's a decent hull and should respond fairly well to torque increases. It may not be as fast as a Hydrostream or an Allison but it's not bad.

Next we'll need to define your goals. How fast is it now and how fast do you want it to be?

Then you'll need to define how deep into the motor you want to go and how much $$ we have to spend. And also your budget vs --

Hi DHadley,
All I get is the thumbnail versions. Aside from the warmed over gearfoot, I can't really tell anything from the tiny pics...

Re: Motor Rebuild Performance Style

The boat belongs to a buddy. I just pulled his pics from another website. He's supposed to send me the regular size ones soon.

It's just something to keep in mind. It's for sale and sometomes it's cheaper to get into something else that's already built. That's a 16 Allison and it'll be faster than anything, except maybe - maybe - a tunnel boat, with the old style crossflow. That flywheel - if you can find one - is worth about $1000.

Dale,
I just found the pics in larger size over at the S&F board. Very cool! Love the shortened mid-section...

Bingo! You noticed what's "odd"! It's a very cool ride. He's got a lot of work into it.
