Re: Motor Running or Not When Fishing
It Does and Does not matter if motor is running when fishing off of Cape Ann, Glousta for stripers. They will hit what you throw out there regardless if they are there.
On a good day(calm) no wind, paralel drift to the rocks or wind blows you toward open ocean you could shut your engine.
Always remember that your RUNNING MOTOR is your life line when fishing the rocks. Keep all fishing lines away from the motor.
When throwing lures for stripers, throw your lure as close to the shore as possible. Boat fishermen never seem to throw their lure or bait close enough to the rocks. Shore fishermen throw their lures and bait to far out. When fishing from shore throw your lure or bait diagonal to the rocks.
You have to discipline yourself to spend no more then 10 -15 minutes in any one spot if stripers are not taking your lure or bait, move on.
Very inportant on a calm day to sight fish for stripers, no sense in fishing where they are not.
