The motor is mounted all the way down on the bracket now. Lets start by moving it up. We shouldnt have to drill new holes. Make sure you know what the water pressure is now so as you go up you know what to look for.

Normally I would suggest moving up a couple holes, test, move up one, test etc. Lets start there. I'm sure it'll still be too low but lets see what we gain from our baseline.

By water pressure I assume you are referring to the stream out the p-hole?????...How do I determine what it is now?

Maybe Dhadley knows better, but without a gauge you need to make sure that as the motor comes up on plane there is sufficient water flow into the water intake for the water pump to cool the motor, the intakes are located below the cavitation plate. If you have a straight edge place it along the bottom edge of the cavitation plate, raise the motor until the end of the straight edge reaches a point where it is about 1" above the bottom of the keel/hull to start with.

I ran a straight edge on the bottom of the boat and it comes out 1.25" at the start of the cav plate and about 1.75" at the furthest point from the boat....(above the cav plate) as i think is visible in the pics I posted

Raise the motor until the c/plate is about an inch above the keel/bottom of the hull. From what I see in the pics you may run out of adjustment before you get it there.

Youll want to install a water pressure gauge before you move the motor. The water pressure is a critical part of the baseline.

When we talk about motor height or X dimension its always measured with the AV plate (commonly called the cavitation plate) parallel to the keel.

Dealer had to order a water pressure gauge and kit ....I may as well winterize this and go at it in the spring....only have weekends to puyt in water and temps are getting down below freezin now....not nice boating weather....anyway I am going to take your advice and put in a water pressure switch and raise the engine...change wheel bearings...and basically do lotta boat maintenance over the next few months....have the boat in a cover boathouse with gas heat so great place to escape from the missus and tinker with the boat over a few buds....thanks 4 the advice and ill be posting in the spring with all the test reults...

 Apologies

 It seems that was bum information. It is not possble to link with pics in a Piczo web site like this. The last part of the url seems to change. May not work with ebay either.

:) Photobucket is a good site to post pics on for linking to from forums and ebay. It is designed specifically for that purpose.
