motor size

Hi i have a 13 foot fibreglass deep V seafarer runabout..and was wondering what the maximum size motor is that i can put on it...it has no makers plate anymore and the maker has gone out of business. it curently has a johnson 35 that has died, i can pick up a johnson 55 at the right price, but maybe too big for that size boat

55 on a 13 is way too much. i imagine the 35 was pushing it. the formula is found in this. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=191283
