On a 15 foot aluminum Meyers outboard does anyone
know the maximum size motor that can safely be used? Can't locate the hull plate that would have
this information

Re: Motor Size

Go to castlecraft.com you will be able to compare your boat with their new ones. I have a Meyers 14ft semi vee and I will be mounting an 18hp 4
stroke. I think mine is rated for 15hp.

Thanks for the Web site. I have sent them an
inquiry. And if it doesn't stop raining in Ohio
I may have to buy a boat for my self.

Re: Motor Size

Keep in mind, older boat ratings were based on power head rating not prop..Usually you can put up to 25 hp on a 14 alum. boat with at least a .050"(check transom for braces in this case) thick hull....... .063" up to 30 hp. If the boat is of the car top type and 14'; 15 hp is safe. These are general ratings from an assortment of TODAYS manufactures based on Coast Guard formulas.... :D
