I have a 3.0 mercruiser I'm thinking of swapping, serial 0L319125. It's currently setup with a mercruiser 120 outdrive. The outdrive is in good condition so i want to find a motor replacement for it; what options do I have for the engine that would be compatible with this outdrive, in the event I can't find an exact replacement? Obviously I assume it would have to be another mercruiser engine but as far as year/hp/liter I wish to know what my options are, if any. Thanks!

Re: Motor swap question

2.4 or 3.0 are the 2 4 cyl choices you have with the 2.4 being lower HP. Although these LOOK like the GM Iron Duke 4 cyl they are in fact a marinized industrial engine. Any thing in 6 or 8 Cyl would require drive change to get proper gear ratio.

Re: Motor swap question

Ayuh,... The 2.5ls are few, 'n far between...

Like I said in your Other thread,...
Get another 3.0l....

About any of 'em from the late 60s to current production are adaptable at the long block configuration...

Re: Motor swap question

Now above here its states again Commercial motor 3.0???? Comercial motor??? Are we talking the old school Grumman olson Allied Industries 4 cylinder comercial motor/ USPS Mail truck 4 cylinder comercial motor? ? ? Or is it just terminology for MARINE Engine? Please someone shed some lite on me. I have a 99 Bayliner Capri 1850 LS Bowrider with a very seized up 3.0 engine. I need a quick swap fix. I welcome anyones feedback here. I really need a shoe string budget motor swap here. Would like to have this boat running by the 4th Of July 2011???? Or soon there after?? Thanks in advance
