Motor Swap Questions

My brother inlaw and I are swaping out my 1985 60Hp VRO motor for his 197? 55hp seahorse and we just have a few questions on some parts.

We are going to leave the bracket that mounts to the transom from my motor and we need to know how to take out the tube that holds the motor to the bracket. We don't want to brake the good one that is on my motor and we are not sure how to get it out.

Any help would be great.

first why are you doing this. not sure at all it will work. i personally would do a complete swap. fill any holes with 3m5200.

Well the motor I have does not run and his checkes out and runs fine. All the electrical plugs are the some and all locations for mounting bolts look the same. Trim will mount to it so, we figured since mine does not work and he don't have a boat to put his one we would just swap the motors and be on our way.
