Tracker/Meecury Motor Swivel Tension? (Easier to steer?)

We recently purchased an '05 Tracker Pro Team 165 with 40 horsepower 3ylinder 2stroke Mercury. Compared to the other boats I've had (Sea Ray and Malibu) the steering seems kind of stiff. I took out the steering cable to regrease it and once it was free from the engine you could turn the wheel with one finger. So I figure the cable was okay, but I went ahead and regressed it anyway. While there was no steering cable connected to the outboard I turned the engine by hand and it seemed a little stiff. Is there any way to adjust that tension? I imagine I don't want to adjust it too much since that could make the wheel wonder at speed unless always hanging on to it, but I would like to loosen it just a little if possible. I've read there might be a tension bolt or rod, but I can't find it. Anyone know where it's at if its an actual thing?

:welcome: petrie141 to iboats. Glad you joined us...

Usually there is an adjustment around the pivot section of the engine. Not knowing the model or series number of your engine, I can't look it up. However, look over the swivel section for an adjustment, but also grease the swivel section as well. There should be at least one zerk (grease) fitting to apply grease.
