im getting ready to sync up my carbs on my 1980 75hp johnson stinger and i am not sure but do you need any special rpm meter for the testing purposes and can i run this motor in a 55 gal plastic drum?
i would do it on a hose but all my problems are when the motor is under a load. i have ran it on a hose and doesn't do it so i need something to test it under load conditions. PS even the manual for this motor says never test it with muffs when doing these types of adjustments
Understand, but you still can't run it under load in a barrel. If you have a boat trailer, a way better idea is to back down the ramp until motor is normal depth, make sure boat is well restrained, then run it. Barrel gives zero advantage over hose, even if you had a test wheel.
