Hi!

Please help me learn preventive maintenance on tilt and trim.
Let me know if I can open the plastic screw (circled) or there's something to maintain in this tilt and trim system.

That screw appears to be the reservoir fill cap. Fluid in the reservoir should be level with the bottom of the hole. I forget which--but in one position, the fluid is under pressure and the cap should not be opened. So look it up. the engine should either be in full up or full down to check fluid.

You really only need to check it infrequently unless there is a leakage problem.

If necessary, add the proper type of fluid--if it is clear, it is hydraulic fluid and power steering fluid is acceptable. If it is pink, it is transmission fluid. If it is slightly brown or tan, it is 30 weight oil. Straight 30, NOT 10-30.
