I have a 15.5ft venture bass boat. It is only 5.5ft wide at the widest point so its not a very big boat. The transom is 2.5 inches thick. I have a 1976 Johnson 70hp which weighs 235lbs. That is what the website that I found said anyway but I am not sure. I also have a CMC tilt and trim system which is 63lbs. Is this going to be to much weight on the back of my boat? I plan on mounting the CMC with plates behind all bolts to spread out the pressure on the transom. Thanks

I'm planning on running the exact same setup on my 16' aluminum boat so I see no issues with what you are doing. The CMC bracket does add leverage being 6" out, so good idea to use the backing plates.

That motor is a good one for your boat like oops mentioned, great power to weight ration on the 3-cyl Johnson/Evinrudes.:)

Just for your information the formula for motor size is simple........length x beam.......15.5x5.5 = 85.25 or maximum 85hp
