Motor trim

I was just informed the motor trim on my motor 1994 4.3 h.o that I'm unable to trim up our down the motor in the water is this true?

if it's broken.

otherwise, trim away - that's the whole purpose of power trim, to change the attitude of the hull whilst underway, traveling down the lake

there should however, be a limit switch that when adjusted properly, limits how high the drive can be trimmed to a specified angle, so you don't stress the u-joints

if you go to high you will know without a doubht, the prop will start to cavitate, meaning it is losing its grip in the water, your boats rpms will shoot up and you speed will drop. if you get to this point you have trimmed it way up too far.
