Hello all! I know the thread says no motor questions.. however i didn’t see any other that would fit this question. looking for some schooling here. Looking at picking up this 14’ skiff that’s been redone. it previously had a 2022 suzuki 30hp on it.(not pictured) I’m wondering if it would hang a 90’s model 40 2 stroke on it? as far as weight difference it looks like about a 15-20 pound difference. i like to go fast haha, but don’t want to swamp anything. TIA!

Some older motors are in fact lighter in weight than newer motors.

More important is...what is the hp rating on the boat??
If you exceed the max hp rating on the boat you could be held liable in case of an accident.
