Motor Well

I have a 69 Cris Craft Lancer 17' with an outboard well.

Has anyone ever seen this configuration before?

I have some issues with following wash entering the boat when I slow down. I think there was some type of skirt that attached to the sides of the well and tied around the motor under the bottom of the engine cowling.

If anyone has picts of one so I can try to make something to keep water out would be a big help. I haven't been able to find much online to help me and only 1 other picture of a boat like mine.

Tried that, not much luck. I have been looking for about 6 months on and off and only found one picture of a boat like mine.

Apparently not many were made. Maybe a design flaw
