Previously posted about this 25XD not starting. Removed carb/fuel pump, diss-assembled and soaked in carb cleaner for 2 hours. Used compressed air in all passages and ran a wire thru passages too. Used the 18-7212 overhaul kit on carb and fuel pump. It will now start up normally but not stay running unless the choke is pulled out. As soon as I push it in the motor dies. Pull the choke out and it re-starts with one pull. Obviously I've missed something inside the carb but don't know where to start looking. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
On a side note, as suggested here I replaced the water pump impeller too. I've always noted the "pee" hole on other o/b's shooting a small stream maybe 1/8" diameter but this thing is like a garden hose. The stream has to be 3/8" or larger and lots of pressure. Is this normal?

PS. Before anyone asks for the serial number, I'm unable to read the first few numbers but I did notice this on the carb, "WMC 1 12/85".

Ok that's not a choke it's a primer when you pull the button out it squirts fuel into the motor. And what do you have the low speed screw turned out to should be 1.5 turns from lightly seated to get a start and run. Also if you have the square knob for the primer for starting you need to pull all the way out to start. Push in 1/2 way for the warm up all the way in for running. The water coming out is normal especially if it is the block that does not the thermostat.

Understand about the choke/primer issue, just me calling it a choke. Low speed screw was set at 1 1/4 turns out from lightly seated. Tried turning it out further but seemed to make no difference. I did pull the primer all the way out to start and after running for a short while, tried to push it in but that was when the engine would die.

What does it do 1/2 way in. is your idle set to low there is a small straight screw by the recoil that controls that. Not the phillips screw that holds holds the recoil safety.

Weather is nasty here today (50F yesterday and 30F today with snow), so unable to push it outside and hook it up to test. Never thought about the idle speed screw being turned out. Will check on that.

Remove carb/fuel pump, tear apart and rebuild again make sure you follow the carb/fuel pump rebuild manual.

Replace all on engine fuel filters, and add a 10 micron spin on water separating filter on transom near motor.

Just to ensure that the engine will run, go to the auto parts store and get an aerosol can of Sea Foam. Unlike a lot of starting fluids it contains light mineral oil (also naptha and alcohol) which the 2 strokers need for lubrication. While cranking the engine squirt some in the carb venturi. If it hits/runs for a second and dies unless you squirt more while it's running, continue after your fuel issue as directed. If it doesn't go chase spark!
