Motor Year

I just bought a Sea King 9.9 hp at an auction. I would like the year of the motor to buy a manual.<br />Model is VWB 52299A Serial 18X 22398. Gas Mix should be 50:1 I would suppose??<br /> Thanks

Your Sea king is a 1981 model. It was made by Chrysler for Montgomery Ward. Sea King is a Wards trade name. An after market manual covering Chrysler should do fine for you. the mix of 50:1 is correct.

You got lucky, because that motor can easily be made to a 15hp by changing out the carb. Dont let poeple get to you, that is a GREAT little motor.

Thanks for the info. Nate how would you tell if that conversion is already done? I notice that inside the cover the previous owner has the spark plug # and Gap written down and it coincides with a 15 HP motor, but maybe they are all the same anyway.
