I have a 1997 75hp that cranks right up when sitting on my trailer but when it's in water it takes forever to crank. What is wrong?

I assume that when starting on the trailer you are using muffs? A motor in poor condition can and will start and run on muffs.. Even it is not running on all cylinders.... But the back pressure that is present when submerged in the water shows the true condition of the motor...

Yes with muffs. I've had it for a year now and it just started doing this.

When it does crank it runs great. It's like its flooded

Compression and spark test need to be done.
