I bought a used Motorguide wireless trolling motor for my pontoon and have run into some issues. It was working for the most part then the other day I took it out and for some reason it is not working at all. When I hook up the battery to the unit it gives a quick beep. If I hit on/off button nothing happens but when I push the + botton it beeps real quick but doesn't do anything and it wont beep again until I unhook the battery and push the + button again. I have tried resetting the memory of the unit and reprogramming the foot remote but it still does the same thing. Thought about buying a new hand held remote to give that a try before I take it to the shop. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,

Re: Motorguide 45w (Wireless)

Ok I've been working on this thing non stop and have some more to add to the post. I took the top off the direction unit on top of the shaft and if you hook 12 volts to the two wires running to the foot the motor will run at full speed. I pulled the cover off the reciever unit mounted on the motor and everything looks to be connected with no loose hanging wires so now I have narrowed the problem to the electronics but still not sure what part of it is actually the culprit. I'm thinking of just buying a new hand held remote and giving that a try since it is the cheapest option. Also I dont even know where to start to buy the motor receiving unit if that is the problem. If all else fails I may have a good parts motor for sale soon....LOL! I'm still open for any suggestions if anyone knows of anything to try or where to buy parts for this thing.
Thanks

Try replacing the battery in the foot control.

From your description, I highly suspect the control board, but replace the battery in foot control (cheap and easy), and while you have it open check for corrosion.

PS: Do a google search on "motorguide wireless part diagram" and you should find plenty of places to order parts from.
