Did not see an old thread about this and apologize for starting duplicate if there was .
I have a 771 Motorguide Tour edition 71 lb thrust with intermittent short in head of unit. have moved one wire at a time to try to localize short with no success. There are 2 circuit boards with some type of transistor or module plugged into them but moving them doesnt help either. I can see no cracks in circuit boards that may cause this prob either. The only thing that works is to give the unit a good thump and it comes on, but you have to thump it every time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Eddie

Shorts blow fuses so unless that is happening you are not dealing with a short. As mentioned, cold solder joints, loose terminations in connectors, connectors that are not mating properly are just a few things to look at.

Thanks for replying MWG.
Will try to get a good pic of boards without taking the out but may have to take em out anyway to replace em. posting a pic on here is also gonna be a new experience. Working on that too.

Thanks for replying Silvertip,
You are right. Since its not blowing fuses I guess I do have other problems. Thanks for pointing that out

Think I have found the problem. There is a square black module plugged into the circuit board with the following written on it: Siemens VF4-11513C01, and AF157-03 REV D, and serial # 00-08-00328. This module clicks when I thump it and the motor starts, it clicks again when the motor stops and will not restart till I thump it again. Pretty sure this is the problem but not sure if its plugged into board or how it comes off.
