I was given a boat with a Motorguide Lazer 320ES Trolling Motor. I have never operated a trolling motor. There is no operating manual. I am attempting to see if it will work. After connecting it to a 12 volt battery and putting the trolling motor in the vertical position, I try to turn it on and I get a very short movement where it seems to want to turn the head (not the prop), but the green light does not stay on. I am able to get a yellow light when I hit various other buttons. It does actually rotate the head (direction) both left and right, but I can get no movement on the prop with either constant or intermittent. The fast and slow and maximum do seem to change the 4 red lights that indicate speed, but again no movement in the prop. I took the head off and disconnected the red and black wires that go to the prop and connected them directly to the battery and the prop runs great. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might find a manual? on what the problem might be? I am assuming I can test this out of the water? I am concerned there might be some simple issue where I just don't know how to operate this motor. I am attaching photos of the trolling motor and the foot controller. Any help is greatly appreciated.Motorguide Lazer 320ES Head View.JPGFoot Pedal.JPGMotorguide Lazer 320ES Full View.JPG

I am basically having the same problem with the same MotorGuide laser 320 e s As You Are. Took it in for repair at a MotorGuide warranty repair shop yesterday and was told that MotorGuide no longer makes parts and they don't work on them anymore. I believe the problem is in the board, and from looking at the board I do believe you could get parts over-the-counter elsewhere to repair it. The only problem is I have not been able to discover a schematic for it yet.
