I have a 47lb thrust motorguide bow mount that is less than 5 years old. I recieved it without a the main power cord so I improvised. I was able to fit both the stripped ends of some 6 gauge wire into the original cord, I used a 50A inline breaker and the motor seemed to working fine when I tested it. Last night I used the motor for the first time on the water for only 15-20mins on high, when I reached under the footpedal and noticed the wires were oddly warm, almost uncomfortably. Can anyone tell me what might be going o before I potentially ruin my motor or something.

Thanks,
James

Improper connections (poor soldering, poor crimping, etc) is responsible for most hot wire issues. The other is using too small a wire for the current load but in your case, 6 gauge should be ok.
