I apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong forum....

I have a Motorguide "Brute" trolling motor, Model #550 45 lb thrust, 12/24 volt. I need the 4 rubber expansion plugs that sit between the top of the bow and the bottom of the mounting bracket. Any help would be greatly appreciated! By the way, bass fishing at Lake Georgetown, TX has picked up so if y'all are in the area, give it a look!

Thanks,
Jeff

Let me look, I just got a motorguide w55 wireless, my boat has carpet and I used my own hardware so I didn't even open the hardware bag and I am sure I saw some rubber grommets in there, if they will work I will throw them in an envelope and you can have them.

If you dont get the ones offered above, these can be ordered from BassPro, or Cabelas. Last time I ordered they were about $12.00 for a bag of 4.

What you are looking for are called "well nuts". You can get them at any hardware store. Minnkota also makes a kit that contains everything you need including stainless bolts and washers.

Re: MotorGuide Trolling Motor

Once again, you guys absolutely come through. I ordered a set and that will take care of the "loose" trolling motor problem. Now, let me pose a second (related) question:

I have 4 large holes in the bow (obviously) to support the mounting of said trolling motor. At some point in the near future, I will be upgrading this trolling motor to either another MG or an MK. That being said, are these holes fairly 'standard' across brands...or will I have to fill these holes? If so, how do you fill them?

Finally....where is the best place to get a MG or MK trolling motor, 55 lbs, foot operated, etc. I'm seeing them for upwards of $500 on Bass Pro and Cabelas...ouch!

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

If you do get the isolator bolts, make sure you retighten them frequently over the next couple of days after you put them in. I found that the rubber stretches or gives for a while. Don't overtighten, just make sure they're secure. Then I would check them before and after each trip for a while just to make sure it's still secure.

As far as the holes being standard, I doubt that is the case. I bought a Bass Pro motor to replace a Motorguide. Holes were different. I ended up leaving the old isolators in and filling them with some silicone.

Bass Pro did have a store $299 55lbs foot control motor a few weeks ago. They may still have it. I picked one up. I can't really say if it is gonna be good quality. It is great so far but may break at any time. I thought I would give it a try for that price.
