Howdy, GNorris!

Now, do you want the BEST 40HP, or the best VALUE 40HP?

The Best 40HP you can buy is the Suzuki DF40 EFI 4 stroke.

The best 40hp 2 stroke you can buy is the Yamaha.

The best VALUE 40hp you can buy is the Tohatsu (provided you can supply your own service).

What would I buy? The Suzi.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Re: Motors

Wow! Force would definitely be my LAST choice. Mariner are decent engines, but not in the same class with the "rice burners" mentioned above. Both Mariner and Force were built by Mercury as low price lines. Force is no longer made. I don't know about Mariner.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Re: Motors

Force would not even be on my list..sorry.

Its the low end cheap motor. Spend the extra money and you get what you pay for in the long run..my thoughts only

Re: Motors

By the way, G. Norris,

I failed to mention that the Suzuki DF40 was also sold in 2000-2001 as an Evinrude and will be offered as a 2002 Johnson.

The Tohatsu is also sold as a Nissan.

Mercury is offering a fuel injected 4 stroke 40 as a 2002 model. I don't know if the power head is a Yamaha design, as in the past, or a Mercury design. It is probably worth looking at.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)
