Motorwell drain tubes - where to find them

I've search online and cannot find plastic drain tubes that are 3'' long. Longest I had found are only 2 1/2. Anybody has any idea where to get them?

Ayuh,... Are you saying your transom is 3" thick,..??

How ya gonna clamp a motor to it,..?? most motor clamps are set up for 2"s...

How ya gonna clamp a motor to it,..?? most motor clamps are set up for 2"s...

When I bought it, it was not clamped, it was held only by 4 bolts, the top of the clamp was not resting on the transom, it was raised like 2 inches, don't know why. I just re-installed it the same way. The transom was 2 1/2, but when I re-did it, I guess I added a 1/4 inch, plus some 1/4 for not perfect fit, and now I am on 3 inches

Splashwell drain tubes can be just about any material as long as they are installed waterproof.

Make your own from plastic pipe.

if you look at pvc pipe you can get a slip connecter for it glue it on and the cut it to make a little lip on it(like an 1/8")

i saw a boat on display(from a local marina) that had the motor raised like a 1/2 inche also????

Thanks, that thought has poped in my mind, since I also pre-drilled the holes larger, filled it with epoxy, and re-drilled to sice, I think I should be ok. I just wanted it to look nice, have nice finish. Do you think I could just gel coat the ends?

Did you simply try your local marina? The one I deal with here had a bucket of various sized tubes, some up to almost 5" long so I know they make them extra long. I always have trouble finding short ones that I don't need to cut. PVC works fine, I'd use some sort of ring or flare glued on to seal the ends rather than just resin. I'm not sure if resin will actually bond to the PVC tube. 5200 sealer may be a better choice if your just using straight PVC tube.


How high the motor is mounted should be determined by the height of the anti Ventilation plate vs. the bottom of the boat.

i just installed mine and used brass 1"x 4"cut down to size , one end came flared so i had to flare the inside . set it with 5200 looks clean and more flush then pvs ones
