Are there any mountain bike riders out there in Iboats-land? Last summer I got back into riding. I did a fair bit of riding my first couple of years of college, but until last summer I hadn't ridden in about 6 years. I started riding again as part of my decision to eat healthier and get in shape.
One of my favorite parts is I can finish a 2-3 hour trail ride, and not feel like I "worked out". Sure, I'm plenty whupped afterwords, but I view it as 2-3 hours of fun, with sore muscles afterwords.
Just another reason to look forward to warmer weather. :D

I did some off road biking while my Dad was stationed in Germany. If I had more time, I would take up the sport again. I, too, need the exercise (and fun).

I enjoy mountain biking better than just riding a nice ten-speed "on road". It is too dangerous sharing roads with automobiles, plus off road riding can be more thrilling.

My BIL is into it big time. He used to make the trip to Moab, Utah every year. Last year he talked us into going. We are not bikers, but I could see where it would be an awesome place to bike. The scenery there is incredible as well. I highly recommend going there at least once in your lifetime, even if you're not a biker.

I think Craig has over $5000 into his Cannondale. I am amazed how light that bike is.

Re: Mountain Biking

I mountain biked hard-core from the mid-80's through the mid-90's. I fell out of it until around 2000-ish, then was hitting it hard again for about a year, then fell out of it again. I am getting back into it again, because I have always enjoyed it. My new job affords me the time to actually do it now. My previous job had me working 12-14 hours a day six days a week most weeks, and there just was not the time. Now I can fit bikin' and fishin' in. I have a late 90's Cannondale full suspension that works just fine and is light, but I can't help but be tempted by the new crop of sweet rides...
