Where is the best place to mount a fiberglass center console and flip-flop cooler seat, towards the front, or more in the middle, or more to the back for the best handling and ride. It is a 1976, 15' sport Boston Whaler, thanx.

I Would say it depends on what else is in the boat and the hull you have, size of motor, etc. I think the main idea is to try and evenly distribute the weight throughout the boat.

I just did a 14' mckee craft like a whaler. I put my console a little bit maybe 12 inches to the rear from center. I have a cooler seat in the rear. I have a 50hp evinrude. I am almost too heavy in the back it seems like when i take off the prop slips a little but when you have a person on a 24 qt in front of the console it rides awesome. I dont have tilt and trim so that could be a problem too. Let me know and i could measure mine.

Put it right here --------> X

Actually, where it should go depends on the loading of the rest of the boat and the buoyancy of the hull. A marine architect with the plans for the boat could tell you exactly where it should go to balance the boat in the water.

Generally ride will be better the farther to the stern you are, so if you can put the console on the transom and move other items forward to balance the boat you'll get the least beating.
