mounting height with a skeg?

I'm mounting a 70hp Yamaha on a 17' semi-v hull (6.5 degree deadrise@transom). There is a skeg that runs from amidships all the way back to the transom that is approx. 1"W x 1.25"H high. Should I have the a/v plate even with the bottom of where the hull would be without the skeg or even with the bottom of the skeg?
Thanks

My vote: set it @ skeg height.

Don't agree. Set it at, or slightly above, the bottom at the top of the skeg.

JB, do you mean at the bottom where the V would be without the skeg? You don't think there will be an issue with water being displaced by the skeg? I do have the option of cutting back the skeg at a later date if I do have any problems, or it could be tapered to improve flow.

That's what I mean, JK3. The 1" wide skeg is not going to affect the prop. It will only diminish drag by the foot.

If you put the AV plate down at the bottom of the skeg it will run under water on plane and create drag and handling problems.
