Mounting Minn Kota Edge on fiberglass trihull

Hello -
I'm looking to mount a Minn Kota Edge on my 1975 Glastron tri-hull. The boat must serve dual purposes: fishing and family pleasure boating. Here's the bow. Little help? Thanks in advance.

Yes you can mount a trolling motor on it just make sure you have it on a quick release bracket. So when you want to have family fun day you can remove it. You will need the bracket and a power plug disconnect to remove. I am doing the same thing on a pontoon now it is going right in the middle of the front gate where everybody get's in and out when we beach it so when not fishing and just having fun can remove for the day. Plus you will need a extra battery for power and a on board battery charger for the extra battery a little bit of work and money but well worth it.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking a quick release bracket might be necessary. Do you think I should mount it to the side or as close to the center as possible? That second option will require me to do something about the bow lights.

You will have to get the trolling motor and just see where it will fit on your bow. You can mount it a little offset and close to center check u tube on the Edge for installing should give you some ideas. Oh and welcome to i boats

Thank you for the welcome. I just got the motor today and have spent a couple hours now assessing my options. It's going to take some creative thinking, but that quick release might be the key.

I'm actually going to start hooking mine up today. I also have a few work around's on mine here is the quick release mount that I got they do make one for the Edge also. I like it better than the metal one they make when unit is off the block left is much smaller and softer than the long metal plate(toe stubber).

Ok first dammit today I had a popup cleat that I installed center of the pontoon to anchor tie of the anchor line to. Guess what right where I need to drill for the mount. So now I need to fill hole 7/8 will get a wood plug and a bottom plywood plate to fill the hole so I can drill and mount solid. The mount plate will cover the holes.

Finally got mine hooked up works great plus I did make a plate to go under more support worked great on the test run.

Can you point me to anything that shows this done? My tail doesn't go all the way around the bow. It stops at the end of the seat. Here's a photo.

Nice work! I only recently got back to trying to sort this out. Thought I'd cut a wedge to even it up with the prow and angle the mount along the bow, but I failed to account for how the until will sit when the prop is out of the water. Back to the drawing board!

Might have to move your front nav. light with side lights then mount in the center with a quick release mount. I would never mount a unit on a rail will not support the weight or the torque it will generate you could see the whole thing go overboard. just my thought thou...
