Am in the process of putting a 1968 55hp Johnson on a 1978 TideCraft, my question is this: How do I determine the height of the motor? Sitting on the transom, the centerline of the prop is 8" below the hull, is this close?
Thanks

Re: Mounting Motor

Hi, Greg.

The anti-ventilations plate (horizontal plate above the prop) should be even with, to an inch or so above, the level of the keel.

Good luck. :)

Re: Mounting Motor

JB,
Thanks for the info, as it sits now, mine is 1 inch below the keel. Do I need to put on a transom jack or can I just mount it higher with the brackets it's got? I have not drilled any holes yet.
Thanks again.

Just raise it an inch or so before you bolt her on, Greg.

Good luck. :)

JB,
Once again, thanks. I'll get her finished up and be ready to hit the water.
Greg
