I removed a 55 hp motor and am now going to use my 9.9 mariner for my primary motor on my StarCraft as we only go to 10 hp lakes. fixed the holes in the transom and was wondering on the 9.9 the best way to mount it. I can easily use stainless bolts and some 3M4200 I have left but I want the ability to remove this motor for service when needed and for end of year storage. I had been using it and another motor before that by simply using the clamps, with a safety chain. Should I just keep doing this or still use bolts at the bottom at the water line as well? Was thinking of installing bolts from the inside out and removing the nuts when time to remove...but maybe just not a big deal to use the clamps only?

I see no reason not to use the Clamps. That's what they're made for. As long as you check em everytime you launch you should be good to go!!!;)

On an engine of that size, the clamps are fine, my 9.8 has been used for years with just clamps and a safety chain with no problems at all, but like Wood said, make sure and check your clamps everytime you go out.
