Hey guys,

just signed up on here and this is my first thread... pretty cool site going on.

Just picked up my 06 Lund Outfitter 1750SS the other day and wondering about mounting my FF transducer to the transom.

How critical is it to use a trasom plate when drilling and securing screws into the transom?

And what material and thickness is requimended?

Thanks,

Ryan

Re: mounting my transducer

Define "transom plate"

Are you talking about the little doohickey (or thingamabob, depending on how you look at it) that is on the transom of the new lunds, to mount transducers too? If so, it is there, only so you can have multiple ducers, without extra holes, and so you can remove them, and move them around, without patching holes in the hull. That thing is made out of some sort of poly carbonate plastic, or something like that. When we mount fishfinders on jons, that need spacers, we usually use cutting board material, doubled up, to space it out. If you bolted that to the transom, you could then use short wood screws to hold ducers to that. If that isn't what you are talking about, you need to elaborate some.
