Probably an odd question but.....when mounting a small outboard (9.9 HP) on a jon boat, is it good to put a strip of gasket-like rubber between the motor mounts and the exterior of the hull and snug it up with that small buffer there? (the rubber would be the exact width and length of the transom/motor mount contact points)

Or, is it best that the motor mount contact the boat transom directly?

you can do either, or mount a 1/4 inch piece of plywood on the outside. called a motor pad, to protect the hull.

Thanks. Yea I was looking at a pad on the outside and inside. Might be too tight to do pads for both.
