Thanks to all the help here, a proper manual, and beer..I was successful in changing out the upper and lower mounts n my 1986 Evinrude 140HP. Model
e140TXCDC, G1136668.....however!! Once I got everything back together I decide to give her a run. I set up the rabbit ear, turned on the batteries, primed the bulb...and she cranked but no start. I checked the primer bulb and she was still solid..even afetr all those cranks.. SOOO...I assumed that maybe she needed to crank a bit more to get the fuel up..but after several crnck and my battery starting to die..I decide to stop and ask for help.

My question is..it did start fine before I took it apart to do the mounts..I also was sure to mark everything so I knew exactly where it came from.. I have no extra pieces which is good..:) so why the heck wont she start?

Anyone run into this before? I didnt change throttle ro shift linkages, didnt move anything, I was so careful as to keep everything as it was before I started...

My plan is to charge my batteries and give it a try tommorrw.. can anyone give me a clue as where to start..anything jumping out when you remove a powerhead..

Thanks:mad:

you verify you have spark? when you lifted the power head off did you unhook any wires? to me it sounds like no spark, emergency shutoff lanyard plugged in? Pop the plugs out and check for spark. Check the inline filter near VRO , maybe clogged when you unhooked stuff. If you thought it was fuel, move the primer solenoid lever and squeeze the bulb when cranking, it should squirt fuel into motor and try to start.

Hey Paw..

Thanks again for helping me out with the mounts.

I never found my true problem. As mentioned i charged my batteries today to help in getting plenty of revolutions. after a few attempts i decided to remove the plugs and squirt a bit of starter fluid in. This was all i needed to get things going.....BUT...and here is the big but. I had my shifter replaced by a mechanic I had used for many years, he travel to your house..so its a good thing. Well, he changed the shifter and left the throttle arm in its original condition out of the box..which is full throttle for my engine.. needless to say I started the engine and she reved way high, so much so that the engine twisted and snapped my steering cable. I shut it down almost imidiatly after it started so i think I am ok. but now I have to get a new sterring cable and get the throttle switched so at neutral its not wide open! What a mess..

do you know anything about the throttle arm position at neutral on the engine? meaning, is it in the up and down position or is it pushed back all the way?? I'm asking becasue when i pulled the cables off the pins, the throttle sprung back to its at rest position..i assume its idle position ?...

Let me know if I am making any sense..

Thanks
