Mouse wont scroll

The mouse wont scroll on this computer I have at work now, Ive tried two different ones and check the regular stuff. Whats up??

If you went from non-scroll to a scroll.....For the scroll to work, the mouse must be plugged in BEFORE you boot.<br /><br />Other than that, no clue.

Mine does the same thing but only on SOME programs, not others - dunno.

Go to device/hardware drivers, may need to program windows to know what to do with that button/scroll. If you have WinXP, it should be automatic, if Win98 or earlier then you may need a driver.<br />Best of luck!

that happens to me soemtimes. try to turn off the computer, unplug the mouse cord and plug it back in then start the computer....thats usually my problem

Lube Dude.......<br /><br />Turn your mouse upside down, open the cover over the ball and remove the ball. Then check the little roller's the ball activates when you move the mouse around. I think you will find little strips of lint/dirt on the rollers. Remove the "foreign" stuff with a damp Q-tip and some tweezer's, then put the ball back in and replace the cover. This should restore your "Rodent" back to it's normal function.<br /><br />I clean mine about once a month, after figuering what the cause of my similar problem was, a couple of years ago.<br /><br /> ...Bob in Calif...

As Bob says,<br />Been there before and about 5 years ago I replaced with a Microsoft Optical Mouse and end of problem.<br />The optical mouse has no moving parts to gather dust and works fine on pretty much any surface that is'nt smooth as glass.<br /><br />regards<br /><br />Pete

The ball isn't the problem, it's the scroll wheel on the top.
