As some of you know, I work for Best Buy. Previously to that I worked at Target 3rd shift and moved to Best By 2 years ago.

I started as a part-time warehouse employee. I was maybe getting 15 hrs a week.

I was then promoted to Full-time, and subsequently promoted to what Best Buy calls a Senior position. I think I had a thread somewhere on here about that promotion. Basicall the store has 4 Managers that run the show, and a group of 4 or 5 Supervisors under them, and after that Each Supervisor has 1 or 2 Seniors to help them. So a Senior is part of the Leadership ladder......to a degree.

It just so happens that the Inventory/Loss Prevention Supervisor role opened up. In terms of Supervisors go, this is one of the top 2 spots to be in. This job has the most people working under it, and carries more responsibility than the others. The person who had this spot is now a Manager, and many before her have done the same.

The other day the GM pulled me into the office to ask if I was applying for it. I told him I was, and he told me that I had been working hard and certainly deserved the position. He then said that if I have any aspirations at becoming a manager, I was certainly on the right track. He then informed me that unless something catastrophic were to happen the job would be mine.

Well today is the day. I now officially have the job, and get to sit down with him and discuss my plans and pay. Its looking like a $4/hr raise.....along with added responsibily and a HUGE step in the direction of being salary Management. I now get to be completely in charge of the Inventory and Logistics processes....:D

I was studying architecture, but I was not happy with the school or the people in it. It was cut-throat, and there was a great deal of backstabbing in an evironment meant to foster ideas. The last year or so I have been taking economics related coarses and will now be switching my degree to Business Marketing and double major with the Art History and Critiscm major I currently have.

Pony, congradulations!! :)

Two things. First always remember that you EARNED this position with your efforts. The other is that no matter how much money they pay you, they are making money on your efforts. I bring this up so you don't forget how valuable your talents are and that you never undervalue them. Your future is so bright your gunna need shades.

Good deal Pony! :D

I've always been told that there are two types of workers. One is a worker who is there for a paycheck and the other is the one who is there to provide a service. Sounds like you have the knack to be the one providing a service. With that kind of attitude young man,,,,,you WILL go places. Congrats to ya!
