18hp Sears w/hi-lo range pulls it like it's not even there both up and down hill. Go slow. I run low rpm in second gear in low range. The only problem is the tractor can turn so tight the rear tires can rub the tongue!

The tow ball bracket I made is strong enough for my boat/load. Will need a stronger one for a bigger boat. It's not the tongue weight, it's the forces put on it when stopping that make the ball rock back and forth. I really should weld some triangle side plates to it.

Can you put a front hitch on the truck, I have one on my Jeep and it works great!

After looking at the picture, I would suggest a driveway from the street directly to the side of the house if possible. Not only are you likely to have problems moving the trailer with a lawnmower on turf,but you're surely going to ruin the turf if you do this often or even once when it's soft and soggy.

If you're just doing this for off season storage, get a bunch of friends to help you manually move it back there. You can even put plywood under the tires and move it as you go.

one thing you could do on thelawn tractor is to put water in the tires for ballast weight.. i know that will help out on traction and weight on front end..

are you going to pull it in and out or push it in and pull it out?? you might could also try and put a hitch on front of lawn tractor to push in.. or you could let you trailer tongue jack down so it is just off of grond a few inches if frontend is still to lite on the steep part of the hill..

========================
just my two cents worth.. but you will probally wont change back from the penny...

I need to keep my Boat (17.5' Whaler) in my yard; however, my side yard is tilted, so I decided to put her in the back yard. Only problem is that I could not manuever my Dodge Ram back there.

I purchased an OLD John Deere 1750 lawn tractor for $250 dollars. I bolted on a front hitch, and I move the old heavy boat with no trouble at all. Of course, the old Kohler motor is still very strong too!

New driveway is best bet. What if you wanted to use your boat after wet weather? Need to move the boat in any weather for sure. Cheaper to build a gravel driveway than buy a lawnmower to move the boat with........

BTW, I have towed my boat w/that Sears tractor up steeper grades than you have in my back yard with no problems. Don't forget the extra tongue weight keeps the tires from spinning even up hill.

Another option is to mount a 12v winch on the trailer and let it pull itself where ever you want it to go....
