You're going to be just as mad at yourself for getting the 23' as you are for the 20'. Get the 25' for the space, the ride, and the amenities. It's not only longer, but wider as well. It's the cubic feet that matter.

Which means you are over-gross for your truck if the trailer alone weighs 8K lbs.

I have weight distribution hitch and class 4.

With the right setup 25' boat should not be a problem for E350. It will have the stopping capability and the pulling weight needed.

You need to test drive anything you are buying, in a chop. Some 25+ cruisers have a very flat bottom and ride poorly. My bayliner 2655 does not run INTO a small chop well on plane, a lot of banging. However my buddies Sea Ray 260 rides better in the same situation; must have greater deadrise or magic Sea Ray engineering. Running with the wind is no problem, but into it I slow down.

Something from 1981 is certainly old. But the bow is pretty sealed and the back half of the cockpit does not appear to be weathered abnormally and is all origninal. Is there going to be transom or stringer rot just by its age? The engine compartment and transom wall look like new (original). As for the cockpit floor it is all fiberglass so no soft spots there......

i have whats known as twofootitus. just another two feet and id be happy. i have what i think is probably the best layout there is for a 23' cuddy and i love her. she's my first boat and didnt want to go to big. but.........if i could do it over i would have went 1 or 2 more feet longer and gotten a "pocket cruiser" instead of my cuddy. yeah i can sleep on my boat and it has a porta potty, its cozy but you cant stand up. its like a tent compared to a camper. the sundancer has the stand up private head and the galley with fridge and stove and shore power. not to mention an aft cabin. all in a boat that has the same 8.5 foot beam i have just a little longer and taller. and 1000 lbs or so heavier. trailering it would be about the same with the proper vehicle too.
