Has anyone moved their trolling motor batteries to the front of the boat? I have a 16' deep v and I was looking to get a better hole shot and to get on plane quicker. Right now I have the cranking battery and two deep cycle near the fuel tank. I was hoping to get on plane better by moving the batteries to the front. Any thoughts?

I have a '89 Pro Deep V 17 and the trolling battery is in a compartment in the bow deck under a hatch. I din't know if there would be room for 2 batteries if you made a compartment there in your boat, mine is on the centerline just forward of the seat pedestal, came from the factory that way.

As for the hole shot, move the batteries to the front and secure with a bungee or two, and take a test run. 3 batteries at the stern does sound like a lot of weight back there.

Let us know how it works.

I appreciate the response. I only have a 40hp and with only two people it takes a bit to get on plane, a very long time with three. I was thinking about putting the batteries next to each other right at the center line to evenly distribute weight. Nice to know where the battery was placed from the factory. How do they have it mounted? Thanks.
