I've got a 2005 Suzuki DF15 on a very light 14ft wooden jon boat that weighs maybe 150lbs + 100lb engine. There is usually two starving college students and at most 50-100lbs of gear. When I first got the engine for the boat, at full throttle the engine would set of the rev limit alarm so I just adjusted the throttle so it wouldn't rev as high. Well today I spun the hub on my 3x9.25x9 prop and I was thinking about getting a larger prop and opening the throttle back up instead of fixing the one I have. Should I just go up an inch in diameter? I can get the same prop but with 4 blades in stead of the 3 bladed one that I have.
The Operating range for the engine is 5400-6000 RPM's
The gear ratio is 12:23 (1.917)
