can i just install the upper with out the lower or dose it have to be together.
if it hase to be together how do i line up the shiftier :confused:

You might want to explain what you are doing a little bit and tell use what model you have. You could put an upper on but why?

reading your response it appears you will need to read the manuals first. You can install it either way but a lot easier with the lower supppored vertically and then drop the upper on.

i took it of to rebuild the motor and i before the ****er only got forward.
i have the out drive apart and just wont to put the upper in with out the lower for storage .

Take the upper off, marry it up with the lower and fill it with oil. Store....

If you leave the upper on without the lower, both will be empty of oil for the entire winter. I can just see those nice rusty gears and bearings now... :D

Yeah. You don't have to store the boat with the upper or complete drive at all. I take mine off every other winter for impeller and oil change plus inspection ( we only get about 15 hours a season ). I pull it in the late summer and put it back on in the late spring.
