what rpm can a1983 175 evin v6 crossflow run to . with boysen and small mods without self destructin. as in rotating parts and still make hp

Benny,
Have a look at the numbers on your power packs, If there is a L 5800 or an L 6200 then you have RPM limited power packs. If you used the power packs off of the GT 150 and they had not been changed they should be L 6200 RPM.

From what I hear these V6's do not like to be held around 6300 - 6400 RPM's due to harmonic balance issues. I'm sure Dale can elaborate more on this. Also have heard the stock flywheels are not up to the task above about 6500 RPM.

thanks jimmy i heard they will come apart at 62oo if held there due to
harmonics i havent checked my packs will run the gt heads or the older small bore 200 heads and boysens and keep it under 6000 and run jackplate and good prop and tune the set up i have the wrong hull for anything else

We've run them at 6200 and never had a problem. As we've discussed the best rpm for your rig (or anybody's really) has a lot to do with the hull design you have. Take a peek at your packs to see whaich ones you have. There may only be 1 limiting pack so be sure to look at both.

thanks right know i will tune my setup stock and then possibly go to the small bore 200 heads and boysens when i do i will give you a holla thank you both for the info

A "small bore 200" is generally refering to a 1986-87 200 looper. Those heads will not fit on a crossflow so don't spend any money on a set. The 200 crossflow heads will probably not be any better than the XP / GT heads you have. Again, a lot depends on what hull you have.
