Mr log got it..alpha one or replace with gen 2

87 alpha one 454 combo. As above a log brought it to its death. I will be replacing it with a complete SEI drive the question is can i or should i replace it with a old alpha one or the newer Gen 2. Actually i am assuming it has to be a alpha but since its a complete drive is the gen 2 a option....It does have a closed cooling system.

dont think you`ll get any warr using a big block with a alpha.better if with a bravo conversion.

Yes i know but i can replace 3 SEI for one Bravo and i have no plan's to go wave jumping or heavy on the hammer.

You can't just replace an Alpha I drive with a Gen II drive. You would have to replace the transom shield as well.

You also need a 1.32 gear ratio for the big block.

Ayuh,.... As noted, ya Gotta stick with the Alpha 1, for Just the drive swap,...
The shiftin' mechanism is Very different, 'n not adaptable 'tween the Alpha 1, 'n Gen.IIs,...

If ya go with the Se drive, ya gotta buy the 1.50:1 ratio, 'n re-prop to make up the difference, as the 1.32:1 ain't available,...

Ok well a alpha it is..one SEI in the basket and coming home.
